Twelve holes on the 19th

Check out the men's changing room at Leamington & County Golf Club - plus a host of other sites across the country - and you'll find a feature found only in locker rooms made and fitted by one particular supplier.

Fitlockers designed, fabricated and installed new members and visitors golf bag lockers at the leading Warwickshire venue recently, the latest in a long line of clubs whose changing room storage includes this unique facet of provision.

Each of the 127 light oak timber golf bag lockers the leading supplier installed is made with a solid wooden base in which 12 ventilation holes are drilled along the front edge.

Former club captain Roy Scott, who rents one of the lockers under a scheme that helps recoup the club's project outlay, explains why letting lockers 'breathe' is so important in keeping changing facilities in prime condition.

"Whether clubs have wooden or metal lockers, storing wet golf bags in them regularly risks creating either rust or rot," Roy says.

"Ventilation like that in our lockers lets moisture escape to keep interiors dry, avoiding potentially costly replacements and refits," he adds.

It's a simple, highly effective build feature, which Fitlockers are alone in providing - just one element in its turnkey capability in changing facilities.

"Every installation of ours is truly bespoke," states Fitlockers managing director David Fitchett, "we have no standard off-the-shelf solution, as every club has differing requirements."
